Hola!,

Blas.

Hello,
can you help me? I applied almost everything you asked to do.In the modes i have NASTRAN takes into consideration the contact (it is perfect), but it does not take into account the preload.
I am more comfortable with the SOL 106 for prestressed systems but I can not use it because it is not supporting the glue contact.
here is my .bdf (PATRAN), is there a mistake?
Thanks you

Dear Raynald,
Your input is not compatible with the NX NASTRAN format, each solvers msc nastran & nx nastran both are mostly compatibles (I would say more than a 98% of the code) but regarding contacts both have different commands to manage contacts.
With NX NASTRAN a contact condition can be included in a normal mode solution (SOL 103), and in an optional dynamic response calculation (SOLs 111 and 112). In the normal mode solution, contact stiffness result is added from the end of the converged linear statics contact solution. The contact stiffness values in the normal mode solution represents the final contact condition of the structure around the contact interface. Thus, it will appear that the resulting contact edges or surfaces are attached during the normal mode analysis. Since the calculated normal modes include the final contact interface conditions, the response calculation (SOLs 111 and 112) which use these normal modes automatically include the same conditions.
The inputs for the normal mode solution are consistent with differential stiffness solutions which require a linear statics subcase. The difference is that the linear statics subcase should include the BCSET case control command. When defining the normal modes subcase, a STATSUB case control command must be included to reference the subcase id containing the contact definition. The contact solution in the linear statics subcase must fully converge before moving to the normal mode portion of the run.
Best regards,
Blas.

I have added STATSUB but I do not know what to put for the parameter BCSET (BCSET = ????) in my case. Because without BCSET modes I get take good account of contacts but do not take into account the load (the pre-stress).

Hola!,
New cohesive element for modeling delamination of composite materials”, OK?.

Buenas tardes Blas.
Me explico.
^^^ USER FATAL MESSAGE 9238 (PHASE0)
^^^ GENERAL CONTACT IS REQUESTED IN PRELOAD OR BUCKLING ANALYSIS.
^^^ USER ACTION: REMOVE THE BCONTACT REQUEST

Dear Blas,
congratulation for this post!
I’ve used this procedure in a component with prestressed bolted connection.
The contact has been modelled by mean of gap element.
I see that the shape modes have a correct behaviour, but I find this warning in a result file
USER WARNING MESSAGE 9142 (STATICS2)
THE SOLUTION FOR THE RESIDUAL STRUCTURE AND THE APPLIED LOADS FOR THE CURRENT SUBCASE ARE ZERO
Do you know why? this could be generate any problems? How could I correct that?

Dear Stefano,
You need to add a loading condition (for instance the gravity effect) in the LOAD CASE since modal analysis is essentially solving the differential equation of free-vibration, then the load is not in the equation, so in SOL103 the load is ignored by default, unless using the trick of the STATSUB (other alternative method is to use SOL106).
Specifying the gravity load in a linear static subcase and including the STATSUB case control in the dynamic subcase will cause the differential stiffness to be computed and included in the normal mode eigenvalue analysis (SOL103), OK?.
Best regards,
Blas.

Dear Blas,
thanks for your fast reply.
I’ve already create a static subcase and check that STATSUB command is present in input file.
I also see that the modes with and without load (and contact) change significantly (and is congruent to what I previewed, expecially for flange contact behaviour).
During my analyses everything is done correctly, but if I open and read the output file I receive this warning message, and I don’t understand why.
During modal analysis infact, the first output is the static result (I’ve receive the same results if I run a linear analysis alone) and the other output are the modal shapes.
Moreover, if I change the load in static subcase (in modal analysis) also mode shapes and static results change.
So it seems that everything is good, but I don’t understand why I receive this warning message.
I follow your tutorial step by step 😉
I also perform a Modal NL analysis, to check my results: the shape modes are the same, and the frequencies value are very similar.
For example:
Modal with contact – LINEAR ANALYSIS => 1st frequency 10.08 Hz
Modal with contact – NON LINEAR ANALYSIS => 1st frequency 9.85 Hz
Modal with contact – LINEAR ANALYSIS => 2nd frequency 10.41 Hz
Modal with contact – NON LINEAR ANALYSIS => 2nd frequency 10.18 Hz
Finally, if I remove static subcase in SOL 103, I give a frequency value of 7.63Hz (and different mode shape).
All the best,
S
